Disco Dancer, the film that shot Mithun to instant national fame, was remade in Tamil as a launchpad for this actor. Who?

Anand Babu. Paadum Vaanambaadi was the film and it failed to create any of the magic that the original did. The songs composed by Bappi Lihiri, which were a rage then, were faithfully reproduced by Shankar-Ganesh duo.

Clarify: Was this Anand Babu's very first film, considering all sorts of roles?

  • Anand Babu's first film was "Thangaikor Geetham". Before acting in paadum vaanampadi, he had couple of other dabba padams as well

    Hmmm. I suspected so; that he might have acted, even as hero, in some films before. That's why I asked.

  • a quick search in the net tells me that Nyayam kaetkiraen was released in 1984. Paadum vaanampadi was in 1985. Also in 85 was Ilamai, Bandham,Vetrikani,Nyabagam Illayo ( directed by his dad) and the big one, where he did a side role - udaya geetham.
