Trivia on Karthi from Bhama Devi Ravi

"Suriya's sibling apparently took off to New York, to do an MS in Industrial Engineering from Binghamtn University, once elder brother made it big in films. Reason? Shattered dreams. Seems the family had always known that if it's cinema it would be Karthi, not the other way around as it happened. But Kollywood was his true calling, and he came back, joined up with Mani Ratnam (ayudha ezhuthu and Yuva) before Ameer came up with the story. Source? Dad Siva Kumar mentioned it to me yesterday (Feb 28) at Four Frames. I was waiting for Departed to start, he to welcome Rajni, Lata, Soundarya and Aishwarya for a spl screening of Paruthi veeran."

  • Ah.. What a coincidence. Only y'day after watching P.veeran, I was thinking which US Univ Karthik (his real name) could have schooled at? Both Surya and Karthik kept mentioning it in the SunTV interview about his US schooling.
    Anyway, he looked so original in the movie.. it's going to be a big change for me to watch him as a metro guy in Selva's next venture.

  • BTW, did he 'successfully' finish his MS? OR did he run off to being an Asst director to Mani?
