Who wrote the lyrics for the 'Orambo Orambo' song that was banned by All India Radio?

Gangai Amaran. Gangai also wrote the lyrics for Anne Anne Sippai Anne & Vaadi en keppakazhangu. Before you dismiss his stuff as trashy also remember that the same guy wrote songs such as En iniya pon nilave & Oru Iniya manadhu isaiyai azhaithu chellum.

  • Amaran's better work is in Kallukkul Eeram. The song begins with this poetic beauty: "Siru ponmani asaiyum, athil therikkum puthu isaiyum"

  • He also wrote " Neela vaana odaiyil, neendhukindra vennila". great words.

But its not just him. Many lyricists are like that . Vaali may be a great lyricist. But he has written some masala songs which are worse than gangai amaran's. Atleast gangai amaran does not pretend to be a gr8 lyricist.

Another case is T.Rajender. He comes up with some excellent stuff like "ponmanai naan kaana" and lot of crappy stuff like "thatti paathaen".

  • He also wrote "Sinthiya Venmani chippiyil muthachu" in Poonthotta kavalkaaran.. amazing stuff...
